Modified Rear TJ Storage Box!

Modified Con-Ferr Storage box - $225.00 Plus Tax and Shipping
Special Order - Fits soft top equipped TJ's (we still have to try a hard top version)
I've had my TJ since 9/96
and have always had a storage issue. I run with the rear seat in 99.9% of the
time since we use our TJ as a daily driver and the kids are always along. So I
wanted to use some of the space behind the seat for storage, but wanted room for
my tool boxes, air hose, etc...... I don't like the Tuffy type boxes since they
go to the floor and use up too much space. I really liked the Con-Ferr stubby
box in the back of Brad Kilby's TJ-7, but those aren't made any longer. I was
down talking to Brad at his shop (Kilby Enterprises) and he showed me a bunch of
the remaining YJ rear stubby boxes he has in stock. We wondered if they they
would work in a TJ, so I brought one back to the shop to see...............
After cutting the corners to miss the seat belt retractors on the roll bar
tubes, and making a place for the latch/ bump on the tailgate to go, the perfect
storage solution for my TJ was born. Now I have locking storage under the box,
and the locking storage in the box itself. Most of the space the box takes up is
behind the seat but above the window line. I will keep my spare parts in the
box( steering, u-joints, belts, hoses, etc.) I like this set up since I can open
the tail gate to get the big often used items, and all the little junk stays in
the box, clean, secure, and up out of the way. The only draw back is my soft top
won't fold all the way back into this now used space. It's no biggie since we
mostly only take out the windows, and use the factory top as a bikini to keep
the sun off the kids.
